Name the Arabic-first models Jais and ALLaM, and the national plans behind AI in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
The first big chat models learned mostly from English text. Arabic, spoken by hundreds of millions, got a thin slice. In 2023 and 2024 two Arabic-first models set out to change that: Jais and ALLaM.
